My Hand Lettered Painted Rock with DecoArt has a special message that I really need on this rainy day (and every day) to SHINE! Such a great reminder to keep close by on your desk or dresser. What is your word of inspiration?

Here's what you need to make Painted Rocks:

.

Here's how to create Hand Lettering on Painted Rocks:

STEP ONE

To begin the Hand Lettered Painted Rock, gather all supplies. I grabbed all the Americana Acrylics yellows that I had on hand. If your rock came from nature, I like to scrub it with warm soapy water and then let it dry outside in the sun for at least 24 hours. If you can't find nice large round rocks outside, these river rocks are the perfect substitute.

STEP TWO

Split the rock into pie-shaped wedges and paint each section in a different color of Americana Acrylics that remind me to shine. Try out Banana Cream, Moon Yellow, Mustard Yellow, Butterscotch, Saffron Yellow, Orange Twist for the brightest monochromatic color scheme. The DecoArt Traditions Paintbrushes come in a variety of sizes and are perfect for any craft project.

STEP THREE

Sketch out the word SHINE with the MONO Drawing Pencil, I like the 4H grade lead which is harder and provides a lighter line that is easier to erase. Write the letters once with the larger bullet tip of the MONOTWIN Permanent Marker, then add width to the downstrokes. Completely fill in the faux calligraphy letters and add flourishes or embellishments. I am not comfortable with flourishes yet, so I normally add a teardrop shape to the ends of my letters, as pictured below. I love to use the extra fine tip of the MONOTWIN for adding all the details.

STEP FOUR

With just a few simple supplies, you can create inspirational, bright, and colorful reminders to SHINE every day. What would YOUR word of encouragement be? Leave me a comment and let me know. If you are placing your Hand Lettered Painted Rock outside, make sure to seal it with a spray or brush on a top coat like American Spray Matte Sealer to protect your creativity.

Quick and Easy Hand Lettered Painted Rocks

Rock painting is a quick and easy craft to tackle with the kiddos, your girlfriends, or even the entire neighborhood. I love crafts where folks can just get messy and creative without rules, except to have FUN! This Easy Hand Lettered Painted Rock project is just the ticket for a few hours of creative play for play's sake.

The faux calligraphy style of hand lettering is where I started out in my lettering journey and is so easy to replicate. When using a bullet-style marker this is still my go-to for hand lettering, but printing or any style of handwriting is also perfect. I am thinking that I need to create an entire rainbow of positive affirmation painted and hand-lettered rocks.

Here are a few more painted rock projects that I have here on my website. I added a Rainbow touch by Paint Pouring on Rocks, y'all know that I love everything rainbow. I also made a set of Patriotic Painted Rocks to Celebrate America. We even Painted Rocks with Rainbow Colors of Unicorn Spit and left them in the Apex, NC community Rock Garden. More painted rock projects are certainly on the horizon, so stay tuned!

Too busy to make this right now? Pin it for later!  I'd love for you to pin this project to your favorite craft board on Pinterest and then it’ll be waiting for you when you’re ready.

Thanks for stopping by!
