Here's how to create Shamrocks from Felt
STEP ONE
To begin the Felt Shamrock Pockets, gather all supplies. Download SHAMROCK POCKET PEOPLE PATTERNS from the bottom of this post, print, and roughly cut out. Trace or pin the small shamrock pattern onto Neon Green, Olive Green, Apple Green, and Pirate Green Kunin Classic Felt. Cut out with regular straight scissors.
STEP TWO
Trace the large shamrock pattern onto Neon Green, Olive Green, Apple Green, and Pirate Green craft felt. Cut out using pinking shears and scallop shears for fabric. If you don’t have pinking shears, cut fun patterns around the edges with straight scissors. TIP: Cut inside all the traced lines for a clean, finished project.
STEP THREE
Match up large and small felt shamrocks in pairs. The kids love using a variety of fun color combinations for these shamrock people. You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
Cut the chenille stems into four equal lengths with scissors. Cut each of the stems in half and then cut those two sections in half again, so there are four sections. Bend the ends of two sections of chenille stems into legs with rectangular feet and the other two into arms with circular hands.
STEP FOUR
Attach the arms and legs to the large shamrock felt bodies with a glue gun and glue sticks. Tuck the cut ends of the chenille stem arms and legs in between the felt layers to cover any sharp wire ends.
Attach the small shamrocks to the large shamrocks with a glue gun and glue sticks, leaving the top open, and creating the pocket. If crafting with younger children, liquid craft glue works, just figure in drying time.
STEP FIVE
Cut one-half-inch by one-half-inch squares from Candy Pink Kunin Classic Felt and then trim those squares into circles with scissors to make cheeks. To create the face, attach two cheeks and two wiggle eyes to each felt shamrock with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Using a permanent marker draw a semi-circle smile onto the Felt Shamrock People Pockets from cheek to cheek. If crafting with the kiddos, use a washable marker. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
