Here's how to create a Clay Pot Leprechaun Hat

STEP ONE

To begin the Dollar Tree Leprechaun Hat, gather all supplies. Remove the paper tag from the clay pots. Basecoat clay pot and saucer with Festive Green acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.

STEP TWO

Using a small flat paintbrush, paint a stripe around the base of the clay pot with Lamp Black acrylic craft paint. If working with younger kids you can use a strip of black cardstock, craft foam, felt, or even black ribbon.

STEP THREE

Download, print, and cut out the LEPRECHAUN HAT PATTERNS from the bottom of this post. Trace the shamrock onto Kunin Classic Neon Green Felt, and then cut it out with scissors. Trace the buckle pattern onto Kunin Classic Gold Felt and cut it out with scissors.

STEP FOUR

Outline the buckle and shamrock with gold glitter glue, and let dry. Glue a green button to the center of the shamrock. Attach the buckle and the shamrock to the leprechaun hat with a glue gun and glue sticks. You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.

STEP FIVE

Layer the clay pot onto the saucer, and secure it with a glue gun and glue sticks. Fill with paper shred and gold foil-wrapped candy of choice.
