Happy Daisy Wreath with Kunin Felt

Sharing is caring!

This Happy Daisy Wreath is perfect to create for Mom for Mother's Day because it's quick and easy, plus these flowers made from Kunin Classic Felt will never die!

“Don’t you think that daisies are the happiest flower?” I have always loved that quote by Meg Ryan’s character, Kathleen Kelly in the movie You’ve Got Mail. I have to say that I totally agree! Airy white and bright yellow, daisies are the essence of Spring and just bring a smile to everyone’s face!

Here’s what you will need to make a Felt Daisy Wreath:

.

Here’s how to create a Daisy Wreath for Spring:

STEP ONE

To begin making a Happy Daisy Wreath, die-cut two large daisy shapes from Kunin Classics™ White Felt using the tattered florals die with the Sizzix Big Shot machine to layer together for each flower. Trim the Craft Cuts Felt to size with scissors the same size as the die, and cut four layers of felt at one time. You will need between 14 and 16 double-layer daisies depending on how full you want your wreath. I added 14 daisies to my 12″ grapevine wreath.

STEP TWO

Die cut 10-12 of the mini flowers from Kunin Classics™ Ocean Blue to fill in the smaller spaces and create another layer of texture. The Tattered Florals Die from Sizzix is a great one to add to your collection because it includes four different flower shapes in a variety of sizes which are perfect for layering.

STEP THREE

Die cut 10-12 leaf shapes from Kunin Classics™ Apple Green to accent the white daisies and give the wreath a more realistic look. The Spring Leaves Sizzix Die from my crafty friend Eileen Hull is ideal for all types of projects because it includes four fabulous leaf shapes.

STEP FOUR

Layer two daisy shapes on top of each other, slightly askew, securing them in the center with hot glue. Add a yellow button to the center of each White Felt large daisy. Attach a light blue button to the center of each Ocean Blue Felt mini flower with hot glue. Liquid craft glue would work for this project, but you would have to wait for the glue to dry. You could definitely attach the buttons to the felt flowers by sewing them on with embroidery floss for extra flair!

STEP FIVE

Layout the daisy flowers on the grapevine wreath until you are pleased with the composition. Begin assembling by attaching the large daisies around the wreath, with hot glue. You can make the wreath as full as you would like by adding more flowers. I like the grapevine wreath peeking through in certain areas.

STEP SIX

The die-cut leaves ended up being a bit too big, so I cut them in half and they became the perfect size to tuck under the petals of the daisies. I love the pop of spring color that the felt leaves in Apple Green add to this wreath. Attach the leaves, randomly, at the top, bottom, and sides to about 10 to 12 of the daisy flowers. Tuck them into place until you are pleased with the composition, and then glue them in place with a glue gun.

STEP SEVEN

To finish the Happy Daisy Wreath, fill in the remaining spaces around the wreath with the Ocean Blue Felt mini flowers, attaching them with the glue gun and glue sticks. Tuck them into all the little nooks and crannies around the grapevine wreath. I love the simplicity of this wreath, so I did not add a bow, but you definitely could!

Felt Daisies are the perfect Mother's Day gift!

Did you know that Kunin Felt is made from recycled plastic water bottles and manufactured right here in the United States? It takes approximately ten plastic bottles to make a pound of fiber. That fiber is used to create many products, my favorite of course is Kunin Felt! Make Mom feel even more special and create a daisy corsage from the leftover flowers by hot-gluing the elements together on an oval felt base, then add a few wires that have been wrapped around a pencil. Secure the completed corsage to Mom's lapel with a large straight pin or even a safety pin.
