Quick and easy decor for the Fourth of July is waiting for you in the dollar bins at the craft store. The supplies for my Patriotic USA Wooden Houses cost just $6.00 but make a HUGE impact on your farmhouse decor. Add some paint, twine, and duct tape to create red, white, and blue decor that I love to leave up all Summer long.

Here's what you need to make Patriotic Farmhouse Decor:
- Embroidered Letters – USA, White, 3″ Varsity Style
- Wooden Houses – I love this handmade set
- Americana Acrylic Paint by DecoArt – Titanium White, Red Alert, and Sapphire
- HVAC Duct Sealing Tape, Silver
- Natural Jute Twine – Dollar Tree
- Silver Glitter Cardstock – Dollar Tree
- Star Punch – 1″ inch
- Paintbrush
- Chipboard or Corrugated Cardboard – from the recycle bin
- Ruler
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Scissors – I love my Fiskars!
- Pencil
Here's how to create Red, White, and Blue Houses:
STEP ONE
To begin the Patriotic USA Wooden Houses, gather all supplies. Basecoat three wooden house shapes with Americana Titanium White acrylic paint. Painting wooden items white first allows the final coat of color to really pop! Topcoat one house Americana Red Alert, and one house Americana Sapphire, set aside to dry. Apply a second top coat, if necessary.
STEP TWO
Place the “S” and “A” white embroidered letters on a scrap piece of paper. Paint the “S” embroidered letter with Sapphire acrylic paint and the “A” embroidered letter with Red Alert acrylic paint. Set aside to dry. Leave the “U” embroidered letter white.
STEP THREE
Dry-fit the embroidered letters onto the painted wooden houses. Wrap the base of each of the wooden houses with natural jute twine three to four times, secure with a knot, and then trim the ends with scissors. Punch a star from silver glitter cardstock and attach it to the knot with a glue gun and glue sticks. If you don't have silver glitter cardstock, use the silver HVAC foil tape.
STEP FOUR
Once the acrylic craft paint is dry, peel liner paper from the back of the embroidered letters spelling the USA and apply one letter to each of the wooden house shapes. The white “U” to the Red Alert house, the blue “S” to the Titanium White house, and the red “A” to the Sapphire house. The embroidered letters can be found in the wearables section of the craft store, but since they are peel and stick, you can use them on a variety of home décor projects as well.
STEP FIVE
To create a roof, measure the width and the roofline pitch of the wooden house, then transfer those measurements to upcycled chipboard and cut out three rectangles. My three roofs are 3/4″ by 5″ each. Cover each piece with the HVAC foil tape folding over all edges, including the back. Silver Duck brand tape would work as well. Be creative and use what you have on hand.
STEP SIX
Carefully bend the three roof pieces at the halfway mark and attach each one to the top of the wooden house shapes with a glue gun and glue sticks.
