Here's how to Upcycle Dollar Tree Thongs:

STEP ONE

To start how to upcycle flip flops with embroidery floss, gather all supplies. Remove the tags from the sandals and select the colors of embroidery floss that you prefer. STEP TWO

Select the first color of embroidery floss, and attach it to the base of the plastic thong with a dab of glue from a glue gun. Hot glue will work best for this project because the adhesion is instant. Wrap the floss around the plastic thong in tight rows. Trim the end with scissors and secure the end with additional hot glue. Repeat on the second flip flop.

STEP THREE

Continue with the next color of embroidery floss. Secure the end, wrap the floss around the thong, cut, and then glue the end. Make the colored blocks as large or small as you like to create a fun and colorful pattern. Repeat on the second flip flop.

STEP FOUR

Wrap additional colors of Anchor Embroidery Floss Spools around the thong. Work in overlapping rows when you get to the plastic piece that goes between your toes. Then cross over to the other side and continue wrapping. Secure the ends with hot glue and repeat on the second flip flop.

STEP FIVE

To finish how to upcycle flip flops, continue wrapping the embroidery floss colors around the thong. The ridges on the surface of the plastic will keep the rows of wrapped embroidery floss in place. The floss won't become tangled.
