Here's what you need to make Minions from Flower Pots
- Clay Pots – 2.5” in diameter – Dollar Tree
- Americana Acrylic Craft Paint Bright Yellow, Sapphire Blue, Lamp Black – DecoArt
- Dazzling Metallics Shimmering Silver – DecoArt
- Wiggle Eyes – Dollar Tree
- Chenille Stems, Black – Dollar Tree
- Water Bottle Caps – Recycled
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks – Dollar Tree
- Scissors – I love my Fiskars!
- Basecoat Paintbrush Set – DecoArt
- MONO Twin Permanent Marker, Black – Tombow

Here's how to create Clay Pot Minions
STEP ONE
Gather all materials and then remove the packaging and labels. Basecoat just the top of the 2.5” clay pots with Bright Yellow acrylic craft paint. Let the paint dry and then apply a second coat, if necessary. Dollar Tree has such a HUGE selection of materials that can be upcycled and good quality craft supplies which won’t blow your budget!

STEP TWO
Topcoat the rim of the clay pots with Sapphire Blue acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry. Apply a second coat, if necessary. The terra cotta will soak up the paint so two coats are necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.

STEP THREE
Basecoat the plastic water bottle caps with metallic Shimmering Silver acrylic craft paint. Let the paint dry and then apply a second coat, if necessary. SIlver spray paint will also work for this craft project.

STEP FOUR
Paint a band of Lamp Black acrylic craft paint approximately 1” down from the top of the clay pot with a small flat paintbrush. Let the paint dry and then apply a second coat, if necessary.

STEP FIVE
Cut the black chenille stems into smaller sections with scissors. Insert into the drain hole at the top of the clay pot and secure with a glue gun and glue sticks. Style the Minion hair. TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.

STEP SIX
Once the water bottle cap goggles are dry, insert wiggle eyes into the silver painted plastic lids securing with a glue gun and glue sticks. The largest wiggle eyes from the Dollar Tree Crafter's Square pack fit perfectly!

Attach one or two eyes to each Minion along the black band with a glue gun and glue sticks. Some minions have two eyes and some minions have one eye, adding character.

STEP SEVEN
Using the MONO Twin permanent black marker, draw on the Minions' mouths, creating a variety of expressions. Then draw on the stitches around the rim of the clay pot to mimic the Minions overalls. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
