Here's how to create Minions from Popsicle Sticks
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. To create each Minion, line up four jumbo craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the Minion and attach them with a glue gun and glue sticks. TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
Basecoat the craft stick Minions with bright yellow acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP TWO
Basecoat the plastic water bottle caps with metallic silver acrylic craft paint. Let the paint dry and then apply a second coat, if necessary.
Once dry, insert wiggle eyes into the silver painted plastic water bottle caps securing with a glue gun and glue sticks. Dollar Tree has such a HUGE selection of materials that can be upcycled and good quality craft supplies which won’t blow your budget!
STEP THREE
Cut strips of black cardstock and glue to the Minions. Attach one or two wiggle eyes to the black strip with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Cut the black chenille stems into smaller sections with scissors. Secure to the top back of the Minions with a glue gun and glue sticks. Style the Minions’ hair.
Using black acrylic craft paint, add the Minions' mouths, creating a variety of expressions. You can also use the MONO Twin Permanent Black Marker for this step.
STEP FOUR
Download the CRAFT STICK MINION PATTERNS from the bottom of this post and print onto blue cardstock. Cut out a pair of overalls for each minion. Attach the overalls to the craft stick Minions with a glue gun and glue sticks. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
STEP FIVE
Cut the left and right rounded ends of the craft sticks off with scissors. Paint the Minions feet with Lamp Black acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.
STEP SIX
Cut out the Minions' pockets from being printed on blue cardstock. Attach one pocket to each pair of overalls with a glue gun and glue sticks.
