Here's how to create a Pirate Hook from Cardboard
STEP ONE
To begin the Dollar Tree Pirate Hook craft, gather all supplies. Paint a band around the top edge of the black paper cup with Dazzling Metallics Glorious Gold craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.

Basecoat the bottom of the paper cup with Lamp Black acrylic craft paint using a paintbrush. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.

STEP TWO
Flatten the cardboard box and cut it apart at the seams with scissors. Download, print, and cut out the Pirate Hook Pattern from the bottom of this post. Trace the hook pattern onto cardboard with a pencil.

Cut out the Pirate Hook shape from the cardboard box with scissors. The fun part is you can make your hook as big or small as you want. Let the kiddos get creative!

STEP THREE
Cut a slit in the bottom of the cup as wide as the base of the cardboard hook using scissors.

Tear a section of aluminum foil from the package and cut into one-inch-wide strips with scissors. This is a great way to sharpen scissors! Dollar Tree has such a HUGE selection of materials that can be upcycled and good quality craft supplies which won’t blow your budget!

STEP FOUR
Starting one inch up from the bottom of the hook, tape strips of aluminum foil, and then wrap around the hook until the entire cardboard shape is covered. Secure ends with cellophane tape.

Insert the plain cardboard end of the hook through the slit in the bottom of the cup. Bend inside the cup and secure it with additional cellophane tape.

STEP FIVE
Decorate the gold stripe at the base of the Pirate Hook with self-adhesive black rhinestones. You can also add some natural jute twine to the top edge of the Pirate Hook to finish.
