Here's how to create Patriotic Flags with Foil:
LAURA KELLY DESIGNS NEW CRAFT LINE WITH THERM-O-WEB
My crafty friend, Laura Kelly Designs has created an entire product line with Therm-O-Web and I am so excited for her! The Patterned Toner Papers that she created are Spotty Dots, Baby Swiss Dots, Chunky Checks, Dauntless Diamonds, Sweet Swirls, Wacky Waves, and Sprinkled Stripes. They are so HER! The exclusive DecoFoil Colors in Laura's line are, of course, the colors of the rainbow, including Red Wagon, Carrot Orange, Sunshine Yellow, Parakeet Green, Denim Jeans Blue, Berry Purple, Flamingo Pink, and Magic Wand Silver. There are two sets of hand-drawn Clear Stamps, cards with envelopes, and Confetti Decorative Papers.
STEP ONE
Plugin and heat up the laminator. You don't need a fancy laminator, this basic one from Scotch Brand is perfect. To begin the Quick and Easy Foiled Flags, select the Wacky Waves pattern toner paper, and the Deco Foil Transfer Sheet Red Wagon. Layer the foil sheet colored side up on top of the toner paper, place inside a folded piece of parchment paper and then run through the heated laminator. I always run it through twice. Once cool, peel the foil from the paper revealing the magic! The dry toner has bonded the colored foil to the paper. Continue foiling the stripes and checks in red and the polks dots in silver.
STEP TWO
Use the Tombow Dual Brush Pens 535 Cobalt Blue and 555 Ultramarine to color the silver foil polka dot and swirls Patterned Toner Papers. Smooth out any lines and remove the color from the foiled pattern by rubbing gently with a baby wipe. This technique gives the paper a watercolor effect.
STEP THREE
Cut the red foil striped Pattern Toner Papers into four-inch by six-inch rectangles on a paper trimmer. Using the leftover one-inch strips, apply Therm-O-Web Permanent Tape Runner XL on the back and attach to a plain piece of white cardstock. Cut the blue and silver foil Pattern Toner Papers into two-inch by three-inch rectangles on a paper trimmer. Apply Therm-O-Web 3D Foam Squares to the four corners and attach to the top left corner of the striped papers to create a flag.
STEP FOUR
Color the decorative top of the wooden dowels with Tombow Dual Brush Pen 856 Poppy Red. Attach each flag to the dowel with Therm-O-Web Super Tape and burnish gently with thumbnail. To finish each of the Quick and Easy Foiled Flags, measure and cut four 12″ lengths of Hemptique Baker's Twine, plus Red and Blue Hemp Cord. Tie one of each to the top of each flag, securing with a knot.
