Make Halloween Wooden Spoons

• Craft Stick, Regular – Dollar Tree
• Wiggle Eyes – Dollar Tree
• MONO Twin Permanent Black Marker – Tombow
• Craft Foam, Black – Dollar Tree

Create Dollar Tree Halloween Spoons

STEP ONE

Gather all supplies. Basecoat one wooden spoon with Titanium White acrylic craft paint for the Ghost. Paint one wooden spoon with Warm Sunset acrylic craft paint on the top, with white and black stripes on the bottom for the Jack-O-Lantern. Basecoat one wooden spatula with Foliage Green acrylic craft paint on the top and Purple Rain on the bottom. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.

STEP TWO

Paint zig zag hair on Frankenstein with Lamp Black acrylic craft paint. Basecoat both ends of a wooden craft stick with Slate Grey acrylic craft paint. Paint the center of the craft stick with Milk Chocolate acrylic craft paint.

I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.

STEP THREE

Using scissors, cut the rounded ends off a wooden craft stick, leaving three pieces. Attach the brown section to the top center of the back of the Jack-O-Lantern with a glue gun and glue sticks. Secure the two grey craft stick pieces to Frankenstein’s neck.

STEP FOUR

Attach two wiggle eyes to each wooden spoon with a glue gun and glue sticks. Create their cheeks by dipping a new pencil eraser into Bubblegum Pink acrylic craft paint. It makes perfectly round dots! You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.

STEP FIVE

Attach two short lengths of green ribbon beside the pumpkin stem on the Jack-O-Lantern with a glue gun and glue sticks. Trim any long ends of the ribbon with scissors.

Basecoat the rounded end of a craft stick with Foliage Green acrylic paint. Cut the end to ½” long with scissors and glue it to Frankenstein as his nose. Cut a small rectangle from black craft foam and glue it to Frankenstein as his eyebrow.

STEP SIX

Using the MONO Twin permanent black marker, give the Ghost an oval mouth, the Jack-O-Lantern a toothy mouth, and Frankenstein a stitched mouth and scar.

Tie a purple ribbon bow around the neck of the Ghost, securing it with a dot of glue. Attach three colored buttons to the handle of each wooden spoon with a glue gun and glue sticks.

I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.

Change up the colors and embellishments on the wooden spoons and spatulas to create a variety of Halloween buddies to share with family and friends. This is a great craft project for tweens and teens to create on their own, or with younger kids.
