Here's how to create a Popsicle Stick Witch
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. To create the Witch, line up five jumbo craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the Witch and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks. To create the Cat, line up six mini craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the Cat and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks.
TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
STEP TWO
Basecoat the craft stick Witch with Foliage Green acrylic craft paint. Basecoat the craft stick Cat with Lamp Black acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP THREE
Attach two wiggle eyes to the Witch with a glue gun and glue sticks. Cut a jumbo craft stick in half and then trim into a witch nose shape. Basecoat the Witch’s nose with Foliage Green acrylic craft paint.
Download, print, and cut out the CRAFT STICK WITCH & CAT PATTERNS from the bottom of this post. Trace the Witch hat onto black craft foam with a pencil. Cut out with scissors. Attach a purple gingham ribbon as a hat band with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Cut four orange chenille stems in half and attach them to the right and left sides of the witch with a glue gun and glue sticks. Glue on the Witch’s nose and hat, making sure to cover the ends of the hair. The Dollar Tree craft section is perfect for finding good quality arts and crafts supplies to get creative with the kiddos!
STEP FOUR
Basecoat the rounded end of one mini craft stick with Foliage Green acrylic craft paint using the basecoat paintbrush set.
Cut the painted end off with scissors and then attach to the Witch’s nose with a glue gun and glue sticks. This becomes a wart.
STEP FIVE
Trace the Cat ears patterns onto black and purple craft foam with a pencil. Cut out with scissors. Attach the purple triangles to the black triangles with a glue gun and glue sticks. Then glue the ears to the top right and left of the Cat.
Attach two wiggle eyes to the Cat with a glue gun and glue sticks. Cut a piece of white floral wire into three 2” pieces with scissors and glue to Cat, then layer on the pom pom nose. To finish, tie a small bow with purple and white gingham ribbon, then glue onto the Cat.
