Here's how to create a Dollar Tree Santa Hat:
STEP ONE
To begin the Dollar Tree Christmas Crafts Clay Santa Hat Ornament, gather all supplies. Remove the packaging and labels from your materials. Pick up bunches of these mini clay pots in the Spring and Summer at Dollar Tree to craft with year-round. They are sold in packs of three for just $1.25.
STEP TWO
Basecoat the rim of the 2.5” clay pot with Titanium White acrylic craft paint. Let the paint dry and then apply a second coat, if necessary. Basecoat the top section of the clay pot with Country Red acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry. Apply a second coat, if necessary. I love using Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have excellent one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP THREE
Cut a square from yellow craft foam, fold it in half, and cut a smaller square from the center to create a buckle. Thread the black ribbon through the buckle and attach it around the clay pot with a glue gun and glue sticks. TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you would have to wait for it to dry.
STEP FOUR
Wrap two white chenille stems around the rim of the clay pot, securing with a glue gun and glue sticks. Cut a 12” length of natural jute twine, tie it in a loop with a knot, and attach it to the top of the clay pot Santa hat with a glue gun and glue sticks.
STEP FIVE
Attach a large, jumbo even, white pom pom to the top of Santa’s hat with a glue gun and glue sticks. I just love how huge and fluffy this pom pom is.
