Make Dollar Tree Candy Corn
- Clay Pots – 3.5” in diameter – Dollar Tree
- Clay Pots – 2.5” in diameter – Dollar Tree
- Americana Acrylic Craft Paint – Titanium White, Warm Sunset, Mustard Seed, Bubblegum Pink
- Wiggle Eyes – Dollar Tree
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks – Dollar Tree
- Ribbon, Black and White Gingham – Dollar Tree
- Scissors – I love my Fiskars!
- Basecoat Paintbrush Set – DecoArt
- Pencil with new Eraser
- MONO Twin Permanent Black Marker
- A Scrap of White Paper
- Circle Punch or Circle Template – 1” in diameter
Create Candy Corn from Clay Pots
STEP ONE
Gather all materials and then remove the packaging and labels. Basecoat the 2.5” clay pots with Titanium White acrylic craft paint. Paint the top 2/3 of the 3.5” clay pot with Warm Sunset acrylic craft paint, and the bottom 1/3 with Mustard Seed acrylic craft paint. Let the paint dry and then apply a second coat, if necessary.
I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP TWO
Attach the smaller white clay pot to the larger orange and yellow clay pot using a glue gun and glue sticks. You can us liquid craft glue for this project, but you would have to wait for it to dry.
STEP THREE
Glue two wiggle eyes on the candy corn face using a glue gun and glue sticks. Give them cheeks by dabbing a new pencil eraser in Bubblegum Pink craft paint and stamping on the right and left sides, just below the eyes.
Once the cheeks are dry, draw a smile from cheek to cheek with the MONO Twi Permanent Marker. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
STEP FOUR
To cover up the drain hole in the clay pot, punch a circle from white cardstock. If you don’t have the correct size hole punch, trace a circle using the clay post as a template with a pencil and cut it out with scissors. Attach the white cardstock to the clay pot with a glue gun and glue sticks. Draw a mouth from cheek to cheek with a permanent black marker.
STEP FIVE
Using black and white gingham ribbon, tie two small bows. Attach to the front bottom of the clay pot candy corn with a glue gun and glue sticks. Trim any long ends of the ribbon with scissors.
