How to Create Ombre Art from the Heart for Valentine's Day

Here's what you need to make Ombre Hearts Wall Art:

• Tombow Watercolor Set – this is a wonderfully inclusive set to start with!
• Foam Tape from Tombow
• Watercolor Paper – I use Strathmore Series 200 in 90lb.
• Water
• Condiment Container – Dollar Tree
• Paper Towel
• Paper Trimmer
• Heat It Craft Tool from Ranger
• Heart Punch
• Scissors – I love my Fiskars!
• Picture Frame – Dollar Tree

Here's how to create Watercolor Ombre Hearts:

THE TOMBOW WATERCOLOR SET

The Tombow Watercolor Set includes five blendable Dual Brush Pens (885, 993, 249, 526, 757), MONOTWIN Permanent Marker, Blending Palette, MONO Drawing Pencil 4H grade, MONO Eraser, plus instructions. Tombow Dual Brush Pens are my go-to for watercolor. Always complete a color blending chart prior to water coloring your image for the best results.

STEP ONE

To begin the Ombre Art from the Heart Wall Decor, gather all supplies. Cut watercolor paper down to 4.5″ by 6″ with a paper trimmer. Apply Dual Brush Pen 757 to the Blending Palette, add water and paint the water color paper with the water brush. Create five shades of water color from lightest to darkest. To obtain the darkest shades, scribble Dual Brush Pen 757 directly on the water color paper and add water.

STEP TWO

Line up the water colored papers in order from lightest to darkest to make sure that there is enough of a variation in hue to create a decent ombre.

STEP THREE

Using a heart-shaped paper punch, center any patterns in the watercolor, and then punch out three hearts from each shade of paper. I like to flip the paper punch over, so I can see the exact patterns.

STEP FOUR

Add Tombow Foam Tape to the back of each of the fifteen heart-shaped punches.

STEP FIVE

To finish the Ombre Art from the Heart, place a plain piece of paper into an 8″ by 10″ picture frame. Remove the liner paper from the Tombow Foam Tape and place the hearts in color order from darkest at the top to the lightest at the bottom. You can measure and mark the paper, but I just eye-balled it.
