Create DIY Halloween Ghosts
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. Paint the wooden blocks with Canyon Orange, Warm Sunset, and Burnt Orange acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP TWO
Sketch Jack-O-Lantern faces onto the wooden blocks with a pencil. Fill in the features with the MONO Twin permanent black marker. If you are using recycled ABC blocks, ink in the letter with the MONO Twin permanent black marker. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
STEP THREE
Trace 5.5” wide circles onto white fabric with a pencil. Use fat quarters or remnants of fabric for cost savings.
Cut out the circles with a pair of pinking shears to prevent the edges of the fabric from fraying. Cut inside the traced lines for a clean finished project.
STEP FOUR
Place the wooden peg doll in the center of the circle. Gather the fabric tightly and secure it with a rubber band around the neck. Cut an 8” length of skinny ribbon, tie it in a secure knot, and then tie it in a mini bow. Remove the rubber band and trim any long ribbon ends with scissors.
STEP FIVE
Using the rounded end of a paintbrush and Lamp Black acrylic craft paint, give the Ghost a mouth and two eyes. Dip the paintbrush handle in the paint and then dot to make the ghosts’ faces. The faces created with paint will not bleed into the fabric the same way that the permanent marker will.
STEP SIX
To finish, attach the ghosts to the top center of the jack-o-lantern blocks using a glue gun and glue sticks.
