- Ribbon – Rainbow 5/8″ Grosgrain
- DecoArt Americana Craft Paint – Titanium White, Bleached Sand, Slate Grey

Here's how to create a Book Stack for St. Patrick's Day
STEP ONE
To begin the Dollar Tree Custom Book Stack, gather all supplies. Remove the paper dust covers and basecoat the canvas covers of the hardback books with a mixture of Titanium White and Bleached Sand acrylic craft paint. Don’t over-mix the colors. Let the base coat be rough with streaks of both colors, so the dark base is slightly visible through the paint. Set aside to dry. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP TWO
Dry brush Slate Grey acrylic craft paint around the sides and edges of the books, in places where wear would naturally occur. Set aside to dry. To dry brush, dip a dry paintbrush in paint, and pounce most of the paint off on a paper towel before applying the paint with a light touch.
STEP THREE
Using both the upper- and lower-case alphabet stamps, select the letters to spell out the message LET THE SHENANIGANS BEGIN, or create a custom message. Place each of the books with the spine up, tap each letter stamp in the Ranger Ink Archival black ink pad, and then stamp on the spine.
STEP FOUR
The irregularity of the stamped letters gives the project farmhouse charm. TIP: If any part of the letters does not stamp properly, fix the letters with the MONO Twin permanent black marker. This trick works for punctuation as well! I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
STEP FIVE
Stack the three books together and wrap them with grosgrain rainbow ribbon, securing at the center with a square knot and leaving the tails long. Cut a triangular notch from the end of the ribbon tails to prevent fraying. You can secure the books together with a glue gun and glue sticks if you prefer.
STEP SIX
To finish the St. Patrick's Day Book Stack, snip off two sections of a silk shamrock bunch with wire cutters and tuck under each side of the ribbon. This silk shamrock bunch from Dollar Tree was already sprinkled with glitter. Add gold coins and tiny white flowers as accents when displaying the book stack.

This is super cute Beth. I’ve actually used these same techniques to alter books as well. I love the rainbow ribbon and the shamrocks! The perfect touches. I have not seen those shamrocks at the Dollar Tree before. I’ll have to be on the look out. XO- MaryJo
