Printable Acorn Craft
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. Download, print, and cut out the CARDBOARD ACORN PATTERNS. Trace the acorn pattern onto corrugated cardboard with a pencil. Think cardboard box. Cut out the acorns with a craft knife.
STEP TWO
Basecoat the bottom part of the acorns with Dark Chocolate acrylic craft paint. Let all paint dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP THREE
Attach the end of the natural jute twine to the center of the acorn cap with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Starting at the base of the acorn cap, wrap the natural jute twine around the cardboard. Secure with a glue gun and glue sticks to the edges so the twine won’t slip. You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
Continue to wrap and glue the twine to the cardboard acorn. Apply glue to the edges and hold the twine in place with the tips of your scissors until it has cooled.
Wrap and glue the stem of the acorn. Trim the twine with scissors and secure to the back with a glue gun and glue sticks.
STEP FOUR
To finish, tie a black and white gingham ribbon in a bow. To prevent fraying, trim the ribbon ends to a fishtail with scissors. The Dollar Tree craft section is perfect for finding good-quality arts and crafts supplies and getting creative!
STEP FIVE
To finish the recycled cardboard acorns, attach the bow to the stem with a glue gun and glue sticks.
