Here's what you need to make a Hemp Cord Rainbow Card:
- Hemptique 10 lb. Hemp Cord Ball Verigated – Rainbow
- Therm-O-Web Tape Runner XL, Permanent
- White and Kraft Cardstock
- A scrap of Cardboard – Think Cracker Box
- Self Healing Mat
- Craft Knife
- Mini Wooden Embellishment
- Paper Trimmer
- Scissors – I love my Fiskars!
Here's how to create a Rainbow Card with Hemp Cord:
STEP ONE
To begin the Easy Rainbow Hemp Cord Card, gather all supplies. I didn't have any card bases in my stash, so I made one, by measuring and cutting white cardstock to size. This card measures 11″ by 5.75″ wide, folded in half to create a 5.5″ by 5.75″ final card. Open the card and measure in .50″ on all sides with a ruler and pencil. Cut out the inner rectangle with a craft knife on a self-healing mat.
STEP TWO
Measure and cut a rectangle that is 5″ by 5.25″ from recycled cardboard like a cracker or cereal box. Cut out the rectangle with a craft knife on a self-healing mat, or scissors
STEP THREE
Apply Therm-O-Web Tape Runner XL to the cardboard rectangle. Starting with a cut end of Hemptique 10 lb. Hemp Cord Ball Verigated – Rainbow
at a corner press the twine into the adhesive firmly using your fingertips. At the end of the first row, create a bend in the twine and press the cord into the adhesive in the opposite direction. Continue to press rows of hemp cord into the adhesive until the entire cardboard rectangle is full. Trim the end with scissors. I love the striped rainbow pattern that this particular Hemptique 10 lb. Hemp Cord Ball Verigated – Rainbow creates!
STEP FOUR
Apply the Tape Runner XL to the back of the frame of the card base. Flip the Hemptique 10 lb. Hemp Cord Ball Verigated – Rainbow cardboard rectangle over and attach it to the inside front of the card, centering it in the window. Press down firmly to adhere.
STEP FIVE
Color a wooden embellishment with a color of coordinating paint, marker, or colored pencil. Tie a hemp twine bow through the embellishment and attach it to the front of the card with additional adhesive from the Tape Runner XL.
