How to Create a Canvas Gift Bag with a Holly Berry Design?
STEP ONE
To begin the No Sew Applique Holly Gift Bag, gather all supplies. Download, print, and cut out the HOLLY BERRY PATTERNS at the bottom of this post ⇓. Select the colors and patterns of your cotton calico fabric. I love to use fat quarters for simple projects like this drawstring bag.
STEP TWO
Unfold and iron the canvas drawstring bag and all of your cotton fabrics. Once the fabric is attached to the Fabric Fuse™ PeelnStick™ Adhesive Sheets you cannot remove the wrinkles.

STEP THREE
Peel the liner paper from the back of a 4.25″ by 5″ Fabric Fuse™ PeelnStick™ Adhesive Sheet and place the sticky side down on the back of the red calico fabric. Trace the holly berry three times onto the adhesive paper liner with a permanent black marker. Attach two pieces of Fabric Fuse™ PeelnStick™ Adhesive Sheet to the back of the green plaid fabric. Trace the holly leaf twice onto the adhesive liner paper with a permanent black marker.

STEP FOUR
Cut out the three holly berries and the holly leaves with scissors.

STEP FIVE
Layout the fabric pattern pieces on the bag until you are pleased with the composition. Shift and place the pattern pieces just so, because you will not be able to peel them back up if they get misplaced. HeatnBond™ Fabric Fuse™ PeelnStick™ Adhesive Sheets from Therm-O-Web® is a permanent fabric adhesive, which after 48 hours can be laundered without coming loose.

STEP SIX
Starting with the eraser, peel the second backer paper away from the fabric and carefully attach it to the tote bag. Place the pencil shaft next, then add the grey pencil cuff, making sure to overlap the yellow and pink fabrics. Attach the black pencil lead to the tan pencil point, and then attach it to the top of the pencil, overlapping the yellow fabric. Rub the fabric pieces with your hand to get good adhesion.

STEP SEVEN
Place a piece of scrap paper inside the gift bag, so the glue will not seep through. Attach the green rick rack to the bottom edge of the gift bag using Therm-O-Web Fabric Fuse liquid fabric glue. Repeat with a length of red lace, attaching with Fabric Fuse. Set aside to allow glue to dry.
