How do you make a Barbie Inspired Sunglass Case?
STEP ONE
To begin the Daisy Sunglass Case inspired by Barbie, gather all supplies and materials. Download and print the free pattern sheet located at the bottom of this post.
STEP TWO
Cut out the sunglass case shape from the pattern sheet with scissors. Attach the pattern to two layers of Shocking Pink Kunin© Classic™ Felt using straight pins. Carefully cut out the base pattern with sharp scissors. Attach the two layers of shocking pink felt together using Fabri-Fuse liquid fabric glue from E6000. Set aside to dry. E6000 Fabri-fuse liquid fabric glue is extremely flexible, has stretch, won’t create bumps or bulges, and allows the felt to remain pliable — even after washing.
STEP THREE
Cut out the daisy shape from the pattern sheet and trace it twice onto White Kunin© Classic™ Felt with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker. Cut out the daisy flowers with sharp detail scissors. Remember to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
STEP FOUR
Cut out the flower center shape from the pattern sheet and trace it twice onto Gold Kunin© Classic™ Felt with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker. Cut out the daisy centers with sharp detail scissors. Remember to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project.
STEP FIVE
Attach the daisy flowers to the case with Fabri-Fuse liquid fabric glue. Pinch the center of the flower with your thumb and fore finger to gather it, creating dimension. Repeat with the second flower, then set aside to allow the glue to set and dry.
STEP SIX
Glue the gold felt flower centers to the daisies. Measure and cut a 48″ length of bright green grosgrain ribbon. Fold over each end and secure with Fabri-Fuse. Attach the ribbon to the back of the sunglass case with more fabric glue. Let glue dry.
STEP SEVEN
To use, place sunglasses inside the pink case, fold in half around the glasses, wrap the ribbon around the center of the case, and secure by tucking the loose end of the ribbon through the wrapped ribbon. Place in a handbag, purse, tote, or beach bag, and have some summer fun!
