Kids Leaf Puppet Craft
STEP ONE
Gather all materials and then remove the packaging and labels. Basecoat the wooden craft sticks with Dark Chocolate acrylic craft paint. Let the paint dry and then apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP TWO
Add a pair of wiggle eyes to the leaves with a glue gun and glue sticks. You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
STEP THREE
Add polka dot cheeks to the leaf puppets by dipping a new pencil eraser into Bubblegum Pink acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry.
STEP FOUR
Once the cheeks are dry, draw a huge smile on the leaf puppets from cheek to cheek with the MONO Twin permanent black marker. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
STEP FIVE
Attach the painted craft stick handles to the back of each leaf with a small dab of glue from a glue gun and glue sticks.
STEP SIX
Tie a variety of colored ribbon scraps into bows and trim any long ends with scissors. Attach the bows to the craft sticks with a glue gun and glue sticks to finish the leaf puppets. The Dollar Tree craft section is perfect for finding good quality arts and crafts supplies to get creative with the kiddos!
