Here's what you need to make Kitchen Towels for Valentine's Day:
- Ann Butler Designs Background Basics Stamps – Picnic, Diamonds, Weave, Checks
- Stitch Stamp Set by Ann Butler Designs
- Ann Butler Designs Crafter's Ink – Berry, Canyon, Night
- Joy® iron-on, embroidered letters – 2″ Black Script – two X’s and two O’s
- Ombre Kitchen Towels (scored at the Target Dollar Spot) But these towels are super cute
- Craft Iron (or you can use a regular iron and a pressing cloth)
Here's how to create Kitchen Towels with Hugs and Kisses:
STEP ONE
To begin Hugs and Kisses Kitchen Towels, gather all supplies. Stamp a variety of the Background Basics Stamps along the bottom of the kitchen towels with Berry and Canyon inks, let dry. These large, 3″ square red rubber stamps are easy to line up to create the faux quilted band at the edge of the ombre kitchen towels with Ann's patented stamp design.
STEP TWO
Crafter’s Inks can be used on almost any surface, but are designed to work best on non-traditional surfaces like clay, metal, plastic, and fabric. I love mixing and matching the ink colors and the patterns of the Background Basics Stamps to create an eclectic quilted effect without having to sew.
STEP THREE
Accent the faux quilted band with the zig-zag Stitch Stamps and Crafter’s Ink in Night. Stamp the stitches in a random and overlapping fashion to achieve a hand-sewn effect. To create a permanent design on the kitchen towels, heat set the dry ink with a craft iron (no steam) and a pressing cloth.
STEP FOUR
Apply the Joy iron-on, embroidered letters according to package directions with either a small craft iron or regular iron and a pressing cloth. Use XO and XO on the pair of kitchen towels to represent Hugs and Kisses or create a custom saying such as LOVE, KISS, or even BE MINE.
