Lucky Rainbow Shamrock Wreath

Sharing is caring!

Create a Lucky Rainbow Shamrock Wreath with my favorite Kunin Felt. Bright and happy colors have been my thing since I was in elementary school and convinced my Dad (while my Mom was away) to paint my bedroom walls a sunny yellow with a sky blue ceiling and groovy grass green shag carpet! Way out of the box for the 1970s but my rainbow bedspread definitely tied everything together. Rainbows continue to inspire my color choices today, including this St. Patrick's Day Shamrock Wreath and I still have those sheets!

Here's how to make a Rainbow Wreath for St. Patrick's Day:

STEP ONE

To create a shamrock pattern from scratch, trace three hearts of the same size from a template (or freehand) connecting at the base, then draw in a stem. I used the two-inch heart from my Fiskars Template.

You can also download, print, and cut out the RAINBOW SHAMROCK WREATH PATTERNS from the bottom of this post. Trace onto chipboard, cut out all patterns with scissors.

STEP TWO

Trace the shamrock patterns four (4) times onto Kunin Classics™ Neon Green, Apple Green, Olive, Pirate Green, and Kelly Green with MONO Twin Permanent Marker. Cut out with scissors. TIP:  Remember to cut INSIDE the traced lines for a neat and clean finished project.

Measure and cut one (1) rectangle three inches wide by twelve inches long from Kunin Classics™ Red, Candy Pink, Orange, Yellow, Apple Green, Brilliant Blue, Royal Blue, and Orchid. Measure and cut nine (9) rectangles three inches wide by twelve inches long from Kunin Classics™ Pirate Green.

STEP THREE

Leave the plastic wrapping on the straw wreath form. Wrap a Pirate Green rectangle around the wreath, securing both ends of the felt with hot glue. Trim any excess felt. Wrap a second Pirate Green rectangle around the wreath, angling and overlapping approximately one-half-inch.  Secure with hot glue and trim. Repeat with a third Pirate Green rectangle, then begin to add the colors in rainbow order and finish up with six additional Pirate Green rectangles.

STEP FOUR

Randomly attach the shamrocks to the Pirate Green section of the wreath by securing the center of each shamrock with the glue gun. Overlap the shamrocks to give a three-dimensional look. Felt is an easy, versatile, and forgiving medium that allows you to create affordable but trendy projects whether you are a beginner or an expert crafter!

STEP FIVE

Attach a green button to the center of each shamrock. Use contrasting colors of green to give the wreath a ton of interest and dimension. Gold buttons would be a fun alternative to green.
