Here's what you need to make a Hot Air Balloon:
- Wooden Heart Plaque – Dollar Tree
- Paper Plate, White, Dessert Size – Dollar Tree
- Ribbon, Red Checkered – Dollar Tree
- Glue Sticks – Dollar Tree
- Red Marker – Dollar Tree
- Americana Acrylics by DecoArt – Baby Pink, Tuscan Red, and Light Cinnamon
- Cardstock, White – Scrap

Here's how to create a Valentine Mailbox Dollar Tree Supplies:
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. Basecoat the wooden heart plaque with poodle skirt pink acrylic paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
STEP TWO
Create hearts by dipping your index finger into red paint and stamping onto the plaque twice in the shape of a “V”. Repeat this pattern all over the plaque.
STEP THREE
Flip a dessert sized paper plate over and paint on stripes with brown craft paint.
Rotate plate and paint perpendicular stripes to create a woven or plaid pattern.
Once dry, cut the plate in half with scissors.
STEP FOUR
Measure and cut two twelve-inch lengths of red checkered ribbon with scissors.
Line up both halves of the paper plate and secure them together at the bottom with a stapler.
Insert ends of ribbon between side edges of the paper plate halves and secure all edges with a stapler.
STEP FIVE
Flip wooden heart plaque over and attach both ribbons to the back with the glue gun and glue sticks.
STEP SIX
Tie a twelve-inch length of red checkered ribbon into a bow and glue to the front center of the hot air balloon basket.
STEP SEVEN
Measure and cut a scrap of white cardstock one-inch wide by three inches long. Write the child’s name on cardstock with a red marker and then cut a “V” from the end with scissors. Attach name tag under the bow with the glue gun and glue sticks.
This is a fun activity to keep the kiddos busy with counting and motor skills. Create this super cute Hot Air Balloon Valentine Mailbox in just about 30 minutes, not including drying time!
