Here's how to create Heat Foiled Printable Quotes:
STEP ONE
To begin the Free Printable Quotes to Foil with a Laminator, gather all supplies. Heat the laminator according to the directions on the back of the Clear Designer Toner Sheets. This project can also be created on plain white paper, colored paper, or cardstock with a Deco Foil color of choice. PLEASE NOTE: A MUST for this project is to print the image onto the Clear Designer Toner Sheets with a LASER PRINTER or COPY MACHINE that uses DRY TONER. Heat Foil projects WILL NOT work with an INKJET PRINTER that uses WET INK to print.
STEP TWO
Download and print the free “One Day or Day One, You Decide” quote from the file below this photo onto the Clear Designer Toner Sheet on a laser printer according to the settings recommended for your printer. I had to Google my printer and the print settings for a transparency sheet. Print at 100% so that the width of the quote is less than 6″ wide.
Download and print the free “Dreams Don't Work Unless You Do” quote from the file below this photo onto the Clear Designer Toner Sheet on a laser printer according to the settings recommended for your printer. I love, love, love the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow for all my hand lettering and drawing projects. It has a larger bullet tip on one end and a smaller fine tip on the other. Perfect for the large spaces and small details!
STEP THREE
Here's what the Clear Designer Toner Sheets will look like once they have been printed. The dry toner image from the laser printer will react with the Deco Foil Transfer Sheets when fed through the heated laminator and will bond the foil to the toner like MAGIC!
STEP FOUR
Remove one sheet of Parchment Paper from the packaging, and open it with the fold on the left-hand side. Place the printed Clear Designer Toner Sheet onto the Parchment Paper.
STEP FIVE
Measure and cut a rectangle of the newest color of Deco Foil, Mystic Rainbow to the length of the design. The Deco Foil Transfer Sheets are 6″ wide by 12″ long, and I sized the quotes to be 5.75″ wide, so they would fit perfectly. Layer the Deco Foil on top of the printed quote with the silver side down and the colored foil side up, making sure that the entire quote is covered. Carefully fold the parchment paper over the top to create a sandwich.
STEP SIX
Feed the sandwich through the pre-heated laminator, folded end first. Once the first pass is complete, I always like to run all of my foiled projects through the laminator a second time. This ensures good adhesion of foil to toner and seems to eliminate any wrinkles.
STEP SEVEN
Open the folded parchment paper, and peel back the foil to reveal the Mystic Rainbow Foil MAGIC! Even though I have heat foiled quite a bit, this step gets me every time. To finish The Free Printable Quotes to Foil with a Laminator, trim the finished quotes and insert them into a floating frame for maximum impact. I ordered two 8″ by 8″ square black floating frames from Amazon and they were here the next day – SCORE! Remove the top frame bracket, and slide the completed foiled quotes into the frame, flush with the back glass panel for a real three-dimensional look.
Heat Foiling Free Printable Quotes with a Laminator
I simply LOVE how these foiled quotes turned out! And one last tip before y'all go – make at least one extra print to use as a test when working with the Clear Designer Toner Sheets and the DecoFoil Transfer Sheets. My test run had the stripes in the foil oriented from top to bottom instead of side to side, and the foil wrinkled and did not fully attach to the print. It looks OK, but nice enough to frame. I have learned the hard way to always include some playtime in my projects.
Here are the finished foiled quotes one more time. The Mystic Rainbow Deco Foil has such a lovely combination of blues, purples, pinks, and golds, that I just can't stop looking at these quotes!
