DIY Terra Cotta Flowerpot Pumpkin Pie
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. Remove the paper tag from the clay pot. Basecoat the base of the clay pot with Spiced Pumpkin acrylic craft paint. Let the paint dry and apply a second coat if necessary.
Basecoat the rim and inside of the clay pot with Cocoa acrylic craft paint. Let the paint dry and apply a second coat if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP TWO
Measure two rectangles ½” by 12” on the Cashmere Tan Kunin Classic Felt with the MONO Twin permanent black marker. Cut out the rectangle-shaped strips with scissors, cutting inside the ruled lines. You could also use tan craft foam instead of felt. Kunin Classic Felt comes in 9″ by 12″ Craft Cuts that make all your DIY projects quick and easy since it won't fray when cut.
STEP THREE
Attach the tan felt pie crust strip to the rim of the clay pot with a glue gun and glue sticks. Create the fluted pie crust edge, by folding and gluing the strips of Cashmere Tan Felt back and forth.
Where the first strip ends glue the second strip on and continue the fluted crust edge until the circumference of the clay pot is covered. You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
STEP FOUR
Add a face to the pumpkin pie by attaching two wiggle eyes with a glue gun and glue sticks. Add cheeks by dipping a new pencil eraser in Bubblegum Pink acrylic craft paint and dotting it on either side of the face.
Once the cheeks are dry, draw a smiling mouth from cheek to cheek with the bullet tip of the MONO Twin permanent black marker. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
STEP FIVE
Glue a white tinsel pom pom to the center of the pumpkin pie’s face to create a whipped cream nose. Fill with paper shreds and yummy Fall treats. Dollar Tree has such a HUGE selection of materials that can be upcycled and good quality craft supplies which won’t blow your budget!
