How do you Create a Travel Tic Tac Toe Game?
STEP ONE
To begin the DIY Felt Tic Tac Toe Game, gather all supplies. Kunin Classic Felt Craft Cuts are 9″ by 12″ sheets of acrylic felt in a wide variety of bright and vibrant colors. Made in the USA from 100% recycled plastic bottles, Kunin Felt is easy to use for all types of craft projects because it will not fray when cut like traditional fabric. Get the kiddos involved in selecting the colors for this fun travel game, the possibilities are endless!
STEP TWO
Using a ruler and white chalk pencil, measure the Smoke Felt into a grid of nine blocks that are 3″ square. Cut off the extra 3″ by 9″ rectangle with (straight or regular) scissors. You can also use the 3″ square pattern included on the pattern sheet. Carefully trim around the outside edges of the game board with pinking shears for fabric, which will give the game board a decorative zig-zag edge.
STEP THREE
Squeeze a line of Fabri-Fuse Liquid Fabric Glue from E6000 over top of one of the chalk lines. Place the white grosgrain ribbon on the glue line and gently tap in place. Do not push down too hard or the glue will seep through the ribbon and create a permanent spot that will always look wet. Trim the end of the ribbon with scissors. Repeat with the other three lines and the white ribbon. Dab a small amount of Fabri-Fuse on the cut edge of the ribbons to prevent them from fraying. Set aside to allow the glue to dry. E6000 Fabri-fuse liquid fabric glue is extremely flexible, has stretch, won’t create bumps or bulges, and allows the felt to remain pliable.
STEP FOUR
Download and print the Tic Tac Toe Patterns below. Cut out the paper “X” and “O” patterns with scissors. Trace the “X” five times onto Lagoon Felt with a black marker. Trace the “O” pattern five times onto Neon Green Felt with a black marker. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip. Cut out the “X” and “O” with scissors, making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project.
STEP FIVE
Now it's time to PLAY! The magic of felt is that it will stick to itself. The rough textures of the fibers will create a temporary bond, which makes it the perfect medium to create games with.
