Here's what you need to make Mushroom Ornaments from Felt:

  • Poly-Fil® from Fairfield™
  • Kunin™ Classic Felt® Crafts Cuts – White and Red
  • Embroidery Needle
  • Needle Threader
  • Embroidery Floss – White
  • Buttons – White, Five
  • Scissors – I love my Fiskars!
  • ENCHANTED MUSHROOM FELT ORNAMENT PATTERNS – download below ⇓
.

Here's how to create a Felt Mushroom Ornament:

STEP ONE

To begin the Enchanted Mushroom Felt Ornament, gather all supplies. Download, print, and cut out the Enchanted Mushroom Felt Ornament Patterns BELOW ⇓. Using straight pins, attach the mushroom base pattern to Kunin Classic White Felt, and mushroom cap to Kunin Classic Red Felt. Then cut out with scissors. The Kunin Classic Felt Craft Cuts are 9″ by 12″, so four of the mushroom base patterns will fit on one sheet.

STEP TWO

Thread embroidery needle with all six strands of white embroidery floss and knot the end. Hand-stitch the five white buttons onto the red felt mushroom cap.

STEP THREE

Line up all three felt pieces, secure with a straight pin. Starting at the bottom right corner, sew the layers of felt together with the blanket stitch.

STEP FOUR

Pause stitching at the bottom left corner of the mushroom. Stuff with Poly-Fil® Premium Polyester Fiber Fill from Fairfield™. Use your finger to maneuver the Poly-Fil into the right and left sections of the mushroom cap. Then finish blanket stitching the bottom of the Mushroom closed.

STEP FIVE

Measure and cut a 12” length of embroidery floss. Draw the needle through the top, back center of the Mushroom Ornament. To finish the Enchanted Mushroom Felt Ornament, remove the needle, knot ends together, and pull the knot to the back of the ornament.

Wrap Up Headline

The Enchanted Mushroom felt Ornament is super easy to create in about 30 minutes. Little kiddos will need help from a parent, but teens and tweens can make this project solo. We loved our time at the Give Kids the World Village this week and we were so honored to have been able to drop off these kits for the families to make. My crafty besties, Laura from Me and My Inklings and Lindsay from Artsy Fartsy Mama created kits, too. Laura created Magic Rainbow Wands and Lindsay created Butterfly Finger Puppets both from Oly*Fun by Fairfield.
