Here's what you need to make Thing 1 and Thing 2 Bookmarks:

.

Here's how to create Dr. Seuss Quote Bookmarks:

STEP ONE

To begin the Dr. Seuss Quote Printable Bookmarks, gather all supplies.  Measure and cut a 3” by 2” section of heavy-weight cardboard (I like to save the backs from legal pads).  Place a 20” length of Red Heart Turqua yarn across the top of the cardboard, and then wrap the yarn around the cardboard 75-100 times.

STEP TWO

Tie off the top of the tassel, cut the bottom of the tassel and remove it from the cardboard.  Measure and cut a 12” length of Red Heart Turqua yarn and tie off a section approximately one-inch from the top to create the tassel.  Use scissors to trim the ends of the tassel. Turqua is the perfect Thing 1 and Thing 2 color match!

STEP THREE

Rotate the tassel so that the fringe end is at the top.  Attach two wiggle eyes to the top edge of the ball section of the tassel with a glue gun and glue sticks.  I am an impatient crafter, so I prefer a glue gun, but you can definitely use liquid craft glue.

STEP FOUR

Measure and cut red cardstock into 2 1/4″ by 8” rectangles using a paper trimmer.  Punch a hole in the top center of the bookmark, thread the yarn ends from the tassel through the hole, and then tie in a bow.  This will attach the Thing head to the Thing body.

STEP FIVE

Download the Dr. Seuss Quote Printable Bookmarks Pattern below Print onto white cardstock.  Cut out the Thing 1 and Thing 2 emblems with scissors and attach them to the front of the bookmarks with the Mini Power Tape adhesive runner.  To finish, cut out the quotes from Dr. Seuss with scissors and attach them to the back of the bookmarks with the adhesive runner.

This is a fun activity to keep the kiddos busy with counting, cutting and motor skills.  A great craft for Tweens and Teens to create alone or to help the littles.

I'm celebrating with my crafting bestie Laura from Laura Kelly's Inklings who has created the cutest Truffula Tree FREE Printable Files to use as tags. Click through to see how she made these fun snacks!

And we even got to meet the Cat in the Hat (socially distanced, of course) on a recently trip to Seuss Landing!
