Dollar Tree Witch Hat Decor
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. Place a 3.5” circle template over the plastic cone and trace the circle with the MONO Twin permanent black marker. These mini plastic cones can be found in the school section of Dollar Tree. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.

Trim the excess plastic away from the base of the cone with a pair of scissors. This will take a little bit of strength, but not a lot. Cut away small sections and take your time with this step.

STEP TWO
Basecoat the plastic cones with Black Tie multi-surface acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. You can also use black spray paint in a well-ventilated area. The multi-surface paint will adhere to the plastic cones and not peel off. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.

STEP THREE
Measure and cut 8” lengths of burlap trim. Attach around the base of the painted cone using a glue gun and glue sticks. Trim any excess with scissors.

STEP FOUR
Cut the plastic circle from the back of three jeweled spider rings. Paint the legs and body of the spiders with Slate Grey acrylic craft paint. Measure and cut 4” lengths of ribbon, fold them in half and attach them to the back of the spiders with a glue gun and glue sticks. Trim the ends of the ribbons with notches. Dollar Tree has such a HUGE selection of materials that can be upcycled and good quality craft supplies which won’t blow your budget!

STEP FIVE
Attach the decorative spider jewel and ribbon to the hat band of the witches’ hats with a glue gun and glue sticks. Mix and match colors and patterns, purples and oranges are perfect for Halloween crafts.
