Farmhouse Pumpkin Decor
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. Remove the tags and packaging from all materials. This particular self-adhesive wall tile from Dollar Tree is dimensional so it looks like a vintage tin tile, and it is made of plastic so it is easy to cut.
Lay the tile upside down on your work surface and trace around the perimeter of the pumpkin sign with a permanent marker.
Using a craft knife and a self-healing mat, cut the pumpkin shape from the tile. Remove the backing paper, exposing the adhesive. This wooden pumpkin sign has a jack-o-lantern face on the other side, but nobody needs to know that, it can be our secret!
STEP TWO
Remove the adhesive backing and throw it away. Attach the plastic faux tin tile to the wooden pumpkin sign with iCraft Ultra Bond liquid craft glue from Therm-O-Web. The perfect strong liquid craft glue for all your DIY projects! Set aside to allow glue to set. Since this tile is plastic, a glue gun is not recommended because it will melt the tile.
STEP THREE
In a well-ventilated area, or outside cover the faux tin tile pumpkin with Rustic Orange spray paint. Set aside to let dry. Regular acrylic craft paint will not adhere to the plastic tile, so this spray paint from RUST-OLEUM is perfect because it bonds to plastic.
STEP FOUR
Paint a quick and sloppy layer of Bleached Sand acrylic craft paint over the pumpkin. Add water to the paint for this step to keep the layer light and the paint from drying too quickly.
Before the paint has time to dry, wipe off the excess paint with a damp paper towel or baby wipe. Expose the Rustic Orange paint on the flat surfaces of the tile, leaving the Bleached Sand paint in the crevices.
Paint a quick and sloppy layer of Dark Chocolate acrylic craft paint over the pumpkin. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
Wipe off the excess paint with a damp paper towel or baby wipe. Remove as much or as little paint as you like to get the desired effect you want for your pumpkin.
STEP FIVE
Measure and cut 10” lengths of assorted ribbons, burlap, and natural jute twine with scissors. Stack in a bundle, tie it with twine and secure it at the top front of the pumpkin with a glue gun and glue sticks. Add several silk fall leaves, an acorn, and a piece of a tree branch on the pumpkin stem to finish.
