Dollar Tree Wagon Craft
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. Basecoat the inside and outside of the mini wooden crate, and two jumbo craft sticks with Dark Chocolate acrylic craft paint. Paint quickly and loosely. Before the paint dries, wipe away any excess with a baby wipe to reveal the grain of the wood and give a stained wood finish. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
A mini crate from Dollar Tree was used for this craft, but any size crate would work.
STEP TWO
Measure and cut the first jumbo craft stick to 4 inches long. Using a ruler, measure and cut the second jumbo craft stick into two sections which are each 2 inches long.
Assemble the handle by gluing the small pieces of the craft stick to the front and back of the rounded top of the second craft stick. You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
STEP THREE
Flip the mini wooden crate over and attach four of the wooden stems with a glue gun and glue sticks. Two in the front and two in the back. Select wooden stems that are similar in size, as these will be the wagon wheels.
STEP FOUR
Attach the handle to the bottom front center of the mini wooden crate with a glue gun and glue sticks. Hold it in place until the glue cools completely.
STEP FIVE
As an accent attach four brown buttons to the center of each wooden stem wheel with a glue gun and glue sticks. Dollar Tree has such a HUGE selection of materials that can be upcycled and good quality craft supplies that won’t blow your budget!
To finish the mini wood crate wagon add brown crinkled paper shreds to resemble hay. For Fall add mini faux pumpkins.
