Here's how to create a Gnome with Dollar Tree Supplies
STEP ONE
To begin the St. Patrick's Day Gnome, gather all supplies. Cut approximately 30 individual strings from the cotton mop head with scissors. Get them damp under running water, squeeze the excess water out and place in a gallon zipper bag.

STEP TWO
Squeeze Jack-O-Lantern Orange acrylic craft paint into the bag, then zip it closed. Squish the paint into the cotton mop strings until they are all coated.

Turn out the orange mop strings onto a garbage bag, and set aside to dry. It will take approximately 24 hours for the string to dry. Place them in the sun for a shorter drying time. When the strings dry, there will be color vairations from light ornage to dark orange, and they will be stiff.

STEP THREE
To create the Leprechaun’s hat, line up five jumbo craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the hat and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks. Flip hat over and glue one jumbo craft stick to the hat base to create the brim. TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.

Trim one jumbo craft stick to the width of the hat to become the hat band. Paint the hat brim with Lamp Black acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.

STEP FOUR
Using a flat paintbrush, basecoat the front, back, and sides of the Leprechaun’s hat with Festive Green acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.

STEP FIVE
Download, Print and cut out the LEPRECHAUN GNOME PATTERNS from the bottom of this post. Trace the buckle onto Yellow Kunin Classic Felt , and then cut out with scissors.

Glue the craft stick black hat band just above the hat brim. Attach the yellow craft felt buckle to the center of the hat band with a glue gun and glue sticks.

STEP SIX
Flip the Leprechaun hat over and attach 15 cotton mop head strings along the base of the bottom wooden craft stick with a glue gun and glue sticks. Glue 15 additional cotton mop head strings on a second layer.

STEP SEVEN
Trace the shamrock pattern onto Neon Green Kunin Classic Felt and cut out with scissors. To finish, attach a green button to the center of the shamrock and secure the shamrock to the Leprechaun’s hat with a glue gun and glue sticks.

Glue the wooden ball to the top center of the Leprechaun’s beard. Tie rainbow grosgrain ribbon into a bow, and glue to the center of the buckle. To finish, attach a green button to the center of the shamrock and secure to the Leprechaun’s hat with a glue gun and glue sticks.
