Jewelry Box Pumpkin Craft
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. I love looking at traditional materials and thinking about using them in my DIY projects in unique and unconventional ways. These jewelry boxes resemble 2 x 4 lumber but don't require a saw!
Basecoat all surfaces of the three cardboard jewelry boxes with acrylic craft paint. I used Spiced Pumpkin, Warm Sunset, and Burnt Orange from the Americana line from DecoArt. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Use a paper dessert plate from Dollar Tree as a paint palette.
I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP TWO
Once the paint is dry, remove the lids from the bases, and attach the three box lids to the three box bases with a glue gun and glue sticks.
STEP THREE
Attach a wooden stem to the top center of each pumpkin with a glue gun and glue sticks. You could also use wooden stems cut from tree branches found in the yard. Liquid craft glue can be used for this project, but you would have to wait for it to dry.
STEP FOUR
Glue the two smaller pumpkins together, lining them up on the side and bottom. Attach the tallest pumpkin to the back center of the two smaller pumpkins with a glue gun and glue sticks.
STEP FIVE
Wrap the natural jute twine around the pumpkin trio three to four times and secure with a knot. Trim any long ends with scissors. Measure and cut a 6” length of natural jute twine. Tie the twine into a bow, and trim any long ends with scissors.
STEP SIX
Measure and cut assorted green ribbons, twine, and trims into three 6” sections. Tie the assorted trims in a knot to create leaf bundles for your pumpkins. This is a great way to use up scraps from other projects. This is a great assortment of green ribbons.
STEP SEVEN
To finish, glue the ribbon bundles to the stems of the three pumpkins. Attach the twine bow to the front center of the pumpkin trio with a glue gun and glue sticks.
