Make Pumpkins from Golf Balls
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. Take small twigs or tree branches collected from the yard and attach them to the top center of the plastic golf balls with a glue gun and glue sticks. Hold in place until the glue cools completely.
NOTE: An industrial adhesive like E6000 would also work for this project, but you would have to wait for it to dry. The hot glue was very secure and did not melt the plastic golf balls.
STEP TWO
Basecoat the outside of the plastic golf balls with Spiced Pumpkin, Canyon Orange, and Burnt Orange acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry. Apply a second coat, if necessary. Set aside to dry by turning upside down and placing the twig stem in the drain hole of a clay pot. Mix and match the colors of orange to create your personalized colors.
I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP THREE
Once the golf ball pumpkins are dry, trim the long stems with wire cutters. These stems have been cut to approximately 1” long to accommodate the ribbon trim. Dollar Tree has such a HUGE selection of materials that can be upcycled and good quality craft supplies that won’t blow your budget!
STEP FOUR
Measure and cut assorted green ribbons, twine, and trims into four-inch sections. This is the perfect craft to use up all the bits and pieces of ribbon and trim that have been collected from other projects.
STEP FIVE
Tie the assorted trims in a knot around each golf ball pumpkin stem. Trim any long ribbon ends with scissors. The green ribbons mimic the green vines and leaves of real pumpkins.
