Dollar Tree Dice Scarecrow Craft
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. Basecoat the foam dice with Buttermilk acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. These foam dice required two coats of Buttermilk acrylic paint. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP TWO
Unfold the natural raffia on your work surface. With a ruler, measure a section of raffia that is 8” long. Cut the end with scissors.
Tie a section of natural jute twine around the center of the 8” bundle of raffia, and secure it with a double knot.
Attach the raffia hair bundle to the top center of the foam dice with a glue gun and glue sticks. Hold in place until the glue cools. Glue down the raffia to the right and left sides of the foam dice.
STEP THREE
Attach the mini burlap hat to the top front of the foam dice with a glue gun and glue sticks. Secure the front of the hat brim down to the scarecrow’s forehead. The Dollar Tree craft section is perfect for finding good quality arts and crafts supplies to get creative with the kiddos!
STEP FOUR
Cut a small triangle from Spiced Pumpkin Kunin Classic Felt with scissors, and round the corners off. If you are more comfortable with a pattern, draw, then cut one from a scrap of paper, then trace it onto the felt. Kunin Classic Felt comes in 9″ by 12″ Craft Cuts that make all your DIY projects quick and easy since it won't fray when cut.
STEP FIVE
Attach the felt nose and two wiggle eyes to the scarecrow’s face. Create the cheeks by dipping a new pencil eraser into Bubblegum Pink acrylic craft paint and stamping it on either side of the face.
To finish draw on a smile from cheek to cheek with vertical stitches using the MONO Twin permanent black marker. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
STEP SIX
Fill a small clear plastic container with candy. Tie orange and white gingham ribbon around the lid of the container and secure it with a knot. Trim long ribbon ends to prevent fraying. Screw the lid onto the container then glue the scarecrow onto the lid.
