Dollar Tree Pumpkins
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. Basecoat the foam dice with Spiced Pumpkin and Burnt Orange acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Two coats of paint were necessary to cover the white dots on the foam dice. Use a paper dessert plate from Dollar Tree as a paint palette.
STEP TWO
Measure a jumbo craft stick to 1 ¾” and 2 ½”, then cut with scissors, leaving the rounded ends intact. Basecoat the craft stick stems with Light Cinnamon acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Don’t worry if the craft stick doesn’t cut perfectly straight, because that will give the stem a bit of extra character.
I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP THREE
Apply a thin line of hot glue along the bottom cut edge of the craft stick stem and attach to the top center of the foam dice pumpkin. Push down gently into the foam until the glue cools, to get a good adhesion. Liquid craft glue can be used for this project, but you would have to wait for it to dry.
STEP FOUR
Gather a variety of green ribbons, trims, and baker’s twine. Measure and cut 6” lengths of green ribbons with scissors. Tie the ribbons together in a knot, and then trim any long ends with scissors. This is the perfect way to use up scraps. Ribbons tied in bows would also look fabulous on these pumpkins.
