Here's how to create a Frog from Popsicle Sticks:
STEP ONE
To begin the Craft Stick Frog, gather all supplies. To create the Frog, line up four jumbo craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the Frog and attach them with a glue gun and glue sticks.
TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
STEP TWO
Base coat the front and sides of the jumbo craft sticks with Festive Green acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP THREE
Attach two wiggle eyes to the Frog face with a glue gun and glue sticks so that they are halfway off the top of the craft sticks. Create cheeks by dipping a sponge dabber into Bubblegum Pink acrylic craft paint and stamping on either side of the face.
STEP FOUR
Using a flat basecoat brush, paint a long, skinny semi-circle to create the Frog’s tummy using Foliage Green acrylic craft paint. Let paint dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.
STEP FIVE
Create polka dots, by dipping a new pencil eraser into Foliage Green acrylic craft paint and then stamping randomly on the right and left sides of the Frog, just under the cheeks.
STEP SIX
Download and print the Craft Stick Frog Patterns at the bottom of this post ⇓ then cut them out with scissors. Trace the legs twice onto green craft foam. Using a pencil, trace the eyes once onto green craft foam. Cut out all patterns with scissors making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project. You could also use colored cardstock or craft felt instead of craft foam for this project.
STEP SEVEN
Attach the legs to the left and right-hand side of the front of the Frog with a glue gun and glue sticks. Attach the eyes to the back of the wiggle eyes on the front of the Frog with a glue gun and glue sticks.
STEP EIGHT
To finish the Popsicle Stick Frog, draw a smile with the MONO Twin permanent marker from cheek to cheek to create the Frog’s mouth. Add detail to the legs with the permanent marker. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
