Here's what you need to make Custom Wrapping Paper:
- Kwik Stix Solid Tempera Paint Sticks – The Pencil Grip Company
- Brown Kraft Paper Roll – Dollar Tree
- iCraft® Memory Tape Runner XL (50 ft.) by Therm-O-Web
- Scissors – I love my Fiskars!
- Ruler or Yard Stick
- Packages to Wrap
Here's how to create Personalized Wrapping Paper:
STEP ONE
To begin the DIY Wrapping Paper, gather all supplies. This set of 30 Kwik Stix includes pastels, jewel, and earth tones plus classic and metallic colors. I love the variety and the vibrancy of the colors on any surface. Cut the roll of brown paper apart with scissors, making sure that you have pieces big enough to cover the packages. Or just guess like I did! Using the ruler as your guide, draw a grid on the brown paper with the red Kwik Stix.
STEP TWO
Continue to add additional colors to the grid to create a plaid pattern. I love that the Kwik Stix dry so fast that you don't have to worry about the colors bleeding together. Use festive holiday colors of your choice, like bright green, white, dark green, and yellow. The fun part about custom wrapping paper is that you can use any colors YOU want!
STEP THREE
You might want to weigh down or temporarily tape down the brown kraft paper while creating the pattern. Once the paper is filled, it will magically lay flat. This plaid was quick and easy to create in just a few minutes. When your Kwik Stix is getting low, twist up from the bottom to reveal more solid tempera paint.
STEP FOUR
Cut a second piece of brown kraft paper from the roll and lay flat on your work surface. Start in the center by creating three red circles as the holly berries. Then add three holly leaves with bright green. Don't worry about filling in the shapes completely. I love the sketchy quality that the Kwik Stix gives to this project.
STEP FIVE
Continue filling in all of the empty spaces with holly berries and holly leaves. In the blank spaces add some yellow stars. I love how vibrant the Kwik Stix colors are even on top of the brown paper bag. When you need more paint, just twist the stick!
STEP SIX
To finish up the DIY Wrapping Paper, create veins down the center of the holly leaves with a dark green Kwik Stick. This really makes the entire pattern POP off the paper, and looks very high-end!
STEP SEVEN
These custom wrapping papers were so quick and easy to create with just a few supplies! I love how these patterns coordinate just by using the same set of Kwik Stix colors on both designs. Measure and cut your wrapping paper with scissors. I like using an adhesive tape runner to give a clean finished look to my wrapped presents.
