Raw Hem Jeans Directions
Decide how many inches you want to cut from the bottom of each leg of the denim blue jeans. Measure up from the hem.

Using a ruler and a chalk pencil, draw a straight line on the denim.

Using sharp fabric scissors, cut the section from the bottom of the leg of the jeans.

Repeat the above steps with the other leg of the jeans.

Distress the cut edge of the denim with a sanding block, and/or the edge of the blade of the scissors.

Use your fingers or tweezers to tug the cross fibers of the denim and unravel the raw edge further.

To promote more distressing, wash and dry the jeans.

How to Distress Jeans
Add a few short diagonal cuts along the edge to create more fray. Use pinking shears for a zig-zag edge that won't fray as much. To prevent the jeans from continuing to fray, you can use a product like Fray Check.
