Here's how to create

STEP ONE

To begin the DIY Beaded Necklace with Geode, gather all supplies. Measure and cut one section of stringing wire that is 2″ longer than your final necklace length. My finished necklace is 36″, so my wire is 38″ long.

Slide a crimp bead on the strand of wire, then thread through the ring on the lobster claw clasp. Loop the wire back through the crimp bead, leaving about 1″ of the wire. Using needle nose pliers press hard and crimp the bead closed over the wires, leaving a loop at the lobster claw clasp end.

One of my go-to jewelry-making supplies is this Design Board from Beadsmith. It has multiple channels, a soft surface, and measurements included to make bracelet and necklace projects quick and easy. This board also has compartments for different beads or jewelry findings and a cover, so you can set your project aside and have it not be disturbed.

STEP TWO

Thread 12 black seed beads onto the wire, making sure that the first few beads are threaded on the main wire and the cut end, hiding the wire tail. Create your pattern using seed beads in between each of the larger beads which replicates the look of hand-knotted jewelry. It is also the perfect hack to make your necklace longer without buying more expensive beads.

STEP THREE

Continue creating the pattern on the necklace. The pattern here is as follows: square, seed, round, seed, round, seed, round, seed, square, seed, brown, seed, brown, seed, brown, seed, square, blue, seed, blue, seed, blue, seed, square. Then repeat this pattern until all beads have been strung.

STEP FOUR

Slide a crimp bead on the end of the strand of wire, then thread through a jump ring. Loop the wire back through the crimp bead, and several seed beads, leaving about 1″ of the wire. Using needle nose pliers pull on the tail of the wire to make a smaller loop. Then press hard and crimp the bead closed over the wires, leaving the loop around the jump ring.

STEP FIVE

Carefully open a jump ring using 2 sets of needle nose pliers, twisting rather than pulling apart. Slide the geode pendant onto the jump ring and find the center of the necklace. Close the jump ring by twisting the ends back together with 2 sets of needle nose pliers.

Easy Statement Necklace with Pendant

Mix and match the size, design, and color of the beads to create a custom DIY Beaded Necklace with Geode for yourself or a friend. The possibilities are endless! The geode pendant is different on either side, so it is like two necklaces in one.

If you prefer a shorter or longer necklace, this tutorial is a perfect solution for the ideal fit. A visit to the craft supply store is a fun way to pick out a variety of beads that reflect your personality.
