Diamond Dotz Greeting Cards

Sharing is caring!

During our May Create-A-Thon last week, I had the opportunity to work with Diamond Dotz Greeting Cards for the first time. The only way I can describe Diamond Dotz® diamond painting kits is that they are a combination of paint by numbers and cross-stitch. Check out my Diamond Dotz Beginners Guide to Diamond Painting Kits blog post which will walk you through from opening the kits, to organizing the supplies, and ideas on how to use the finished artwork. AND, I have a special surprise for everyone – get 20% OFF your Diamond Dotz order by scrolling down to the bottom of this post!

Here's what you need to make a Diamond Painting Card:

.

Here's how to create a Diamond Painting Greeting Card:

STEP ONE

To start the Diamond Dotz® Greeting Card project, gather all supplies. Each kit contains a high-quality color printed card with an envelope, Diamond Dotz® pre-sorted by shade, and pictorial instructions. You will also need a Diamond Dotz® Accessory Pack containing a craft tray, a stylus with a soft gripper, and a wax square. Make sure to work on a level table with a comfortable chair, and plenty of light. The only other supply you will need is a pair of scissors.

STEP TWO

To get the stylus ready, peel back the liner paper on the wax square and insert the metal tip of the stylus into the wax. This will assist you in picking up the Diamond Dotz with ease. As you work on any Diamond Painting project you will periodically need to reinsert wax into the stylus.

STEP THREE

The greeting card is color and symbol coded and each kit always includes a key. The symbols coordinate with a number. Those numbers are located on each packet of Diamond Dotz. So, color A07 is a bright blue color that coordinates with a backward slash symbol. Each spot that includes this symbol gets an A07 colored Diamond Dotz. I always start with the color A01 and move through in numerical order.

STEP FOUR

Cut open the first color pack of Diamond Dotz and place them in the plastic tray. The tray has grooves that when gently tapped on your work surface will flip and line up the Diamond Dotz so they are easy to pick up with the stylus. I like to hold the stylus perpendicular to the tray and tap gently to pick each dot up. Peel pack the plastic liner paper to expose the adhesive and place each color of Diamond Dotz on your Greeting Card.

STEP FIVE

Here is the completed Diamond Dotz Greeting Card. To make sure that all of the dots are secure on your card, I like to place the plastic liner over the dots and press firmly. This particular design, Pink Star, has a gorgeous rainbow color variety, as well as iridescent white and yellow stones that add extra sparkle and shine. The inside of the card is blank, so you can write a personalized message.

The greeting cards are 5″ by 7″ and are made up of a combination of a colored design printed on cardstock and the colored stone Diamond Dotz pattern. Each card has a different number of stones. The Pink Star is one of the cards with a larger count coming in around 1,100. This design took me approximately one hour to complete and the card kits are under $10. Perfectly suitable to be framed by the recipient and enjoyed for years to come. A SPECIAL TREAT FOR OUR READERS!
