Valentine's Day Rocket Craft
STEP ONE
To begin the Craft Stick Valentine's Day Rockets, gather all supplies. Line up four jumbo craft sticks on your work surface to create each rocket. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the rocket and attach them with a glue gun and glue sticks. You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.

STEP TWO
Basecoat the craft stick rockets with Titanium White, Santa Red, and Bubblegum Pink acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.

STEP THREE
Download, print, and cut out the Valentine Rocket Patterns from the bottom of this post. Trace shape patterns onto white, red, and pink craft foam with a pencil. Work on tracing skills and colors. Cut out all traced rocket part patterns with scissors. Cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project. Work on cutting skills and shapes.

STEP FOUR
Attach rocket parts to the rocket base using a glue gun and glue sticks. Mix and match the colors, to use all the colors of craft foam. Refer to the photo for the layering and placement of all rocket parts. Work on matching skills.

STEP FIVE
Cut the white, red, and pink heart-shaped doilies in half with scissors. Attach the half doilies to the back of the rocket on the right and left sides with a glue gun and glue sticks. The Dollar Tree craft section is perfect for finding good quality arts and crafts supplies to get creative with the kiddos!

STEP SIX
Attach the red glitter hearts to the pink craft foam rocket flame with a glue gun and glue sticks, then adhere the pink glitter hearts to the red craft foam rocket flame. Stick two glitter hearts to the front of each rocket. Mix and match the colors of the heart stickers to work on colors and matching.

STEP SEVEN
Draw a variety of dots, lines, and stripes on the rocket with the MONO Twin permanent black marker. Use the photo as a guide, or have the kiddos make up their own patterns. Work on pattern skills. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
