Here's how to create a Popsicle Stick Spider
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. To create the spider web, arrange three regular craft sticks on your work surface in a star shape. Attach one to the top and one to the bottom with a glue gun and glue sticks. To create the spider, line up six mini craft sticks on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional craft sticks to the width of the spider and attach with a glue gun and glue sticks.
TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
STEP TWO
Basecoat the spider web with Titanium White acrylic craft paint, and the spider with Lavender acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP THREE
Starting on the outside of the craft stick star shape, attach the end of a white chenille stem to the back of the white craft stick spider web with a glue gun and glue sticks. Bend the chenille stem in a slight arch and then attach it to the next craft stick to begin the spider web.
Continue bending and gluing the white chenille stem around the craft sticks to weave the spider web. Working from the outside to the center.
STEP FOUR
Attach a variety of wiggle eyes in different sizes to the craft stick spider with a glue gun and glue sticks. You can also attach the traditional two eyes to your spider. The Dollar Tree craft section is perfect for finding good quality arts and crafts supplies to get creative with the kiddos!
STEP FIVE
Cut two black chenille stems into four equal lengths with scissors. Glue a black tinsel pom pom to the end of each of the eight spider legs. Attach four legs to the right and left side of the spider in a diagonal pattern with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Bend the chenille stem spider legs. To finish, glue a white chenille stem to the back of the spider web, and then attach the spider to the chenille stem.
