Dollar Tree Craft Stick Harvest Corn
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. To create each corn, line up five jumbo craft sticks on your work surface in a graduated pattern. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of the corn and attach them with a glue gun and glue sticks. You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
STEP TWO
Basecoat the front and sides of the corn with Buttermilk acrylic craft paint. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Dip your finger in Mustard Seed acrylic craft paint and stamp corn kernels on the craft sticks in rows.
Stamp additional corn kernels onto the corn by dipping your finger into Spiced Pumpkin acrylic craft paint. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
Continue finger stamping on the corn kernels using Honey Brown acrylic craft paint. The uneven and random placement and texture of the finger stamping make the prints look like corn kernels.
Stamp additional corn kernels with your finger using Deep Burgundy acrylic craft paint. Make the placement random. Mix and match colors based upon the paint in your craft stash.
Finish finger stamping on the corn kernels using Deep Ochre acrylic craft paint. This is the perfect craft to get a little messy with the kiddos.
STEP THREE
Download, print, and cut out the HARVEST CORN PATTERNS from the bottom of this post. Trace the pattern twice onto Olive Green Kunin Classic Felt. Cut out with scissors inside the traced lines. Kunin Classic Felt comes in 9″ by 12″ Craft Cuts that make all your DIY projects quick and easy since it won't fray when cut.
Attach the felt corn husks to the right and left sides of the harvest corn craft using a glue gun and glue sticks. Overlap the husks in the center.
STEP FOUR
Add a face to the harvest corn by attaching two wiggle eyes with a glue gun and glue sticks. Add cheeks by dipping a new pencil eraser in Bubblegum Pink acrylic craft paint and dotting on either side of the face. Dollar Tree has such a HUGE selection of materials that can be upcycled and good quality craft supplies that won’t blow your budget!
STEP FIVE
Once the pink paint is dry, draw a mouth from cheek to cheek with the MONO Twin permanent black marker. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
