Here's how to create a Dollar Tree Skeleton
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. To create Dracula and the Skull, line up five jumbo craft sticks for each, on your work surface. Using scissors, trim additional jumbo craft sticks to the width of Dracula and the Skull and attach them with a glue gun and glue sticks.
TIP: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
STEP TWO
Basecoat the craft stick Skull with a combination of Titanium White and Bleached Sand acrylic craft paint. Basecoat the craft stick Dracula with Lavender acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics from DecoArt because they have one-coat coverage on most surfaces.
STEP THREE
Draw an oval around the top of the craft stick Skull. Carefully trim the outside left and outside right of the jumbo craft sticks with a pair of scissors. The Dollar Tree craft section is perfect for finding good quality arts and crafts supplies to get creative with the kiddos!
Then carefully trim the oval with a pair of scissors. Being able to cut wooden popsicle sticks with scissors makes them so versatile! I like to keep a separate set of scissors just for cutting wood and heavier materials.
STEP FOUR
Download, print, and cut out the CRAFT STICK DRACULA & SKULL PATTERNS from the bottom of this post. Trace the Skull eyes and nose onto black craft foam with a pencil. Cut out with scissors. Attach the features to the Skull with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Draw a rectangular grid with the MONO Twin permanent black marker for the Skull mouth. Round the bottom and top corners of the grid to create teeth. I love drawing and tracing with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker from Tombow because it has a large bullet tip and a small extra fine tip.
STEP FIVE
Trace Dracula’s hair and cape onto black craft foam with a pencil. Trace Dracula’s teeth onto white craft foam. Trace Dracula’s bow tie onto red craft foam. Cut out all patterns with scissors.
Attach two wiggle eyes, hair, cape, and bow tie to craft stick Dracula with a glue gun and glue sticks. Draw two eyebrows and a curved mouth with a permanent black marker, and then attach two white craft foam teeth with a glue gun and glue sticks.
STEP SIX
Paint one jumbo craft stick with purple acrylic craft paint. From the rounded ends, cut two sections that are 2” long each. Attach at an angle to the right and left back of Dracula’s head to create ears with a glue gun and glue sticks.
