Here's how to create Colorful Pinwheels from Felt:
STEP ONE
To begin colorful pinwheels for Summer, measure a 5-inch by 5-inch square from each color of Kunin Premium™ Felt and Kunin Classic™ Felt. Cut the light colors with straight scissors. Cut the dark colors with pinking shears and scallop shears. Lightly mark an “X” on each square by drawing diagonal lines from corner to corner with a ruler and fine point marker. Cut diagonal lines on the light felt with straight scissors, stopping 1-inch from the center. Cut diagonal lines on the dark felt with pinking shears and scallop shears, stopping 1-inch from the center.
STEP TWO
Layer lighter felt squares on top of darker felt squares. Using a hot glue gun, place a dollop of glue in the center of the square. Bend the top left corner of the pinwheel square to the center and hold in place until glue sets. Repeat to complete the pinwheel. Glue every other corner of the triangles to create the shape. Set aside for the glue to cool completely.
STEP THREE
On the front side, affix color coordinating buttons or mix it up with different colored buttons using hot glue. If your buttons have a loop (or shank) on the back remove with wire cutters. Set aside until glue has cooled.
STEP FOUR
To finish colorful pinwheels for Summer, flip over and attach a wooden dowel to the back of the pinwheel with a line of hot glue 1-inch long. Allow the glue to cool completely. Display as you wish!
