Champagne Cork Snowmen a New Year’s Day DIY
When we pop the bubbly on New Year's Eve (or any other special occasion) I always collect the corks but rarely know what to do with them. So, these Champagne Cork Snowmen are the perfect New Year's Day DIY craft to complete with the kiddos! I created an entire family representing my good friends and their blended family.

Here's what you will need to make Snowmen on New Year's Day:
- Champagne Corks (or corks from any sparkling wine or Prosecco)
- Americana Acrylics by DecoArt – Titanium White and Jack-O-Lantern Orange
- Princeton Paintbrushes – #10 Flat and #0 Round
- Tombow MONOTWIN Permanent Marker
- Pom Poms, Assorted – Dollar Tree
- Tinsel Chenille Stems, Silver – Dollar Tree
- Cosmetic Blush – Dollar Tree
- Cotton Swabs – Dollar Tree
- Paper Dessert Plate, used as a Paint Palette – Dollar Tree
- Rhinestones, Self Adhesive – Dollar Tree
- Craft Awl
- Surebonder Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Scissors – I LOVE my Fiskars!
- Ruler
- Darice Mini Buttons – Black
- Ribbon – Assorted Colors
Here's how to create Snowmen from upcycled corks:
STEP ONE
Place cork onto craft awl by piercing through the bottom.

Using craft awl as a handle, roughly paint the cork Titanium White with #10 Flat Brush. Let dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. I prefer being able to see some of the cork through the paint, but you can paint the cork solid white.

STEP TWO
Measure and cut tinsel chenille stems into two-inch sections and then bend into the shape of a “U”. Attach to snowman head with the glue gun and glue sticks. Glue two small pom poms over the ends of the chenille stem to create earmuffs.

STEP THREE
Create the carrot nose with Jack-O-Lantern Orange paint and the #0 Round brush. Create a long skinny triangle with wiggly lines. Apply blush to the cheeks with a cotton swab.

Draw eyes and mouth on snowman's face with MONOTWIN Permanent Marker. Add a highlight to the eyes with the smallest dot of Titanium White paint and the very tip of the #0 Round Brush.

STEP FOUR
Measure and cut a ten-inch length of ribbon, tie around snowman's neck and secure with the glue gun and glue sticks.

STEP FIVE
Glue two mini-buttons on the front of each snowman and two rhinestones on the front of each snowwoman.

Mix and match the color combinations to mimic the personality of everyone in your FAMILY! I dated the bottom of each Champagne Cork Snowman (and woman) with the dated we popped it along with the recipients' initials! So, now a piece of trash intended for the bin has become a fun keepsake to display for years to come!
