.

Here's how to create Button Monarch Butterflies:

STEP ONE

To begin the Butterfly Button Art, gather all supplies. I love using the bright, colorful, and gorgeously detailed buttons from Button-Jam. They are high quality and come in super cute jam jar packaging. I was lucky to recently find a new to me button company called Button-Jam. They make high-quality buttons for the fashion industry and have converted those molds into the craft industry with a variety of bright and vibrant colors.

STEP TWO

Download and print the Monarch Butterfly Pattern below ⇓ and then cut it out with scissors. Trace the butterfly pattern onto a piece of chipboard or cardboard with a pencil. Cut out the butterfly shapes with scissors. Basecoat the front, back, and sides of the butterflies, silk flower stamens, and clothespins with Lamp Black Acrylic Craft Paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.

STEP THREE

Dry fit the Black Button Jam buttons along the butterfly bodies. Use a combinate of buttons with holes and buttons with shanks. The shank is the loop on the back of some buttons. Cut them off with a pair of wire cutters.

STEP FOUR

Starting with the two large decorative buttons in the bottom center of each wing, dry-fit the Orange Button Jam buttons on each wing of both butterflies. Remove the shank from the back of some of the buttons with wire cutters. One by one, attach the Black and Orange Button Jam buttons to the butterflies with E6000 Extreme Tack adhesive. Set butterflies aside to dry.

STEP FIVE

Attach two silk flower stamen to the top center of the back of each butterfly with Extreme Tack. Glue a mini wooden clothespin to the back of the butterfly with the clip portion facing down. Set aside to allow the E6000 Extreme Tack to dry.
